All the atoms of air you are breathing right now will be dispersed by the wind and eventually inhaled by all the inhabitants of planet earth. The people of Tibet intuited this fact long before modern physics verified it and used the wind as a medium to communicate their intentions for reverence, peace and prosperity to the whole world and beyond.

Inspired members of the Education Subcommittee of Community Outreach, Dalai Lama UB 2006 have created a complete brochure to instruct individuals or groups in the making of their own Flags of Peace. The document includes background history of the flags and references for further investigation of Tibetan culture in addition to construction details.

It is our sincere hope that the joy and peace you experience making these flags will be communicated through their contact with the winds world-wide and that we will see thousands of flags flying all over Western New York by the time of the Dalai Lama's arrival.

The Community Peace Flag booklet was co-designed by Justin Hall Graphics and Jayme Cellitioci of the Buffalo Museum of Science with major contributions made by Trudy Stern of Tru-Teas, Ginny Lohr of the UB Anderson Gallery, Ugyen Norbu (Tibetan student) and Carol McPhillips from the Amitabha Foundation. It is available as a PDF document in both an 8 1/2" x 11 and 11 x 17" format  at  either medium or high resolution.

The high resolution versions yield the sharpest printouts but require significantly more time to download, especially with slower, dial-up connections. The high resolution, 11 x 17" consists of 2 individual files called "Outside" and "Inside" and must be downloaded in two parts for a total download size of 3.75 MB. All 11 x 17" versions are intended to be printed on the front and back of an 11 x 17" sheet folded along the center to yield a four page document.
